Fortiche: How long have you been working with Fortiche ?

I started at Fortiche in January 2022. After living abroad for 8 years, Fortiche convinced me to come back to France from New-Zealand for the job. Otherwise, I would still be in New-Zealand, the sheep land.

F: What is your role on the project or at Fortiche?

I am currently a Lead Animator at Fortiche on Arcane season 2. I am supervising a group of animators for sequences that are specifically assigned to us as a team. My role as a Lead is then like “Sequence Supervisor,” in that on a given sequence, I have to guide the animators on their work, and deliver to the Animation.

F: Can you tell us about your career?

I studied at Lisaa Animation school and then went to Gobelins in Paris. I turned to the VFX animation industry by joining the MPC animation team in Vancouver for a year. After this, I joined the MPC Montreal team for another year before traveling to New-Zealand to work for the studio Weta Digital where I stayed 5 years. In the meantime, I also worked at Framestore London, where I met and worked alongside Martial ANDRE (Animation supervisor on Arcane S2). I have been a teacher as well, for the 3rd year's Gobelins students in Paris for an animation workshop.

F: Why did you choose this career path?

When I was a student, I have always been attracted to directing, animation and concept art/matte painting. It is simply while working, animating, and directing movies that I very naturally worked more towards animation and direction.

For me, Animator is a job that matches well my needs, thanks to the technicity mixed with its creative parts. 3D is also an incredible medium offering so many possibilities, and although every job within the industry is linked to the direction choices, I find that animation is even more intimately linked to it.
